PRICING, REFUND and DEPOSIT POLICY
Everything you need to know before applying for a Gentry puppy.
Pricing & Payment
What does a Gentry Boxer puppy cost? Boxer puppies are $5,500 when released at approximately 8 weeks of age. Texas residents will be charged applicable sales tax. Gentry Boxers LLC is a legitimate business of over five decades and all income is reported. We collect sales tax as required by Texas law.
Puppies who remain with us past 8 weeks are priced higher, as they continue receiving daily training, Puppy Culture enrichment, and our full raw diet protocol. They do not sit in kennels — they are active members of our household.
What payment methods do you accept? We accept Zelle and cash only. Puppies must be paid in full before release. We do not accept PayPal or credit cards.
Is a payment plan available? Yes. Payment plans are available so that your puppy is paid for in full by pickup day.
Deposits & Refunds
Do you accept deposits? Yes, on approved applications. A deposit of $1,500 or more holds your place against a current or upcoming litter and is credited toward the final price. Deposits are held for 18 months in escrow with a commitment from both you and me as we work together to find the perfect Gentry puppy for your family.
When is a second deposit required? Once a litter is approximately two weeks old and stable, families with deposits are asked to commit with a second deposit of $1,500. This second deposit is also non-refundable and applied to the final price. If the second deposit is not received, the puppy will be offered to the next family and all previous deposits and payments are forfeited.
What is your refund policy? Deposits and payments are held fo 18 months. If I cannot provide a puppy to you within 18 months of receipt, it will be returned in full.
Is there a boarding fee if I can't pick up on time? Yes. A boarding fee of $90 per day applies to puppies not picked up on the agreed date. Our puppies are raised in our home, not in kennels. After 8 weeks they begin to outgrow our RoverPet nursery system, requiring us to set up alternate containment. During any extended stay they continue receiving training, Puppy Culture, and full raw diet. This fee is consistent with what naturally-rearing-friendly boarding kennels charge — and we do considerably more. Boarding fees must be paid in full by Zelle or cash before release.
Choosing & Picking Up Your Puppy
How do you match puppies to families? We do not hold specific puppies by color or sex. Instead we evaluate each puppy's individual temperament, energy level, and personality and match them thoughtfully to each approved family's lifestyle and situation. Many of our puppies go into performance, conformation, and service homes — each requires a different kind of dog. Don't get attached to a color before you meet the litter. The best match for your home may surprise you.
When do puppies go to their new homes? Puppies are released within a few days of their 8-week birthday. This is the developmentally optimal window for transitioning to a new home. At this age they also typically fit in a large Sherpa bag and can travel under an airline seat. Pickups are by appointment only and are never scheduled to overlap with another family.
Can you arrange transport? We can help connect you with a professional transport nanny, but arrangements and fees are made directly between you and the transporter. We currently recommend Heike Transport and have had excellent results with them.
What will my puppy's color be? Boxer color follows straightforward genetics. Fawn is recessive — two fawn parents produce only fawn puppies. Brindle is dominant — a brindle parent can produce both brindles and fawns, depending on whether they carry the fawn gene. When two heavily marked (flashy) parents are bred together, occasionally some puppies carry an overabundance of white markings and appear primarily white. These are genetically fawn or brindle dogs — not a separate color. White Boxers are healthy dogs; very rarely one may have hearing differences, but this is not directly caused by their color.
Vaccines & Natural Immunity
Do you vaccinate your puppies? Gentry puppies are not vaccinated using conventional injections. We raise antibodies to disease naturally through a comprehensive protocol: species-appropriate raw prey model diet, homeopathic nosodes, Young Living essential oils, and carefully developed in-house immune-support formulas. This approach does not create conventional serum antibodies, but it does significantly strengthen the immune system so that if a puppy encounters a pathogen, it is far more likely to have a mild response.
We provide every Gentry family with education, a care handbook, and recommended reading including Natural Rearing by Dr. Jeannie Thomason, Natural Immunity by Pat McKay, and our own ebook Creating Immunity Without Vaccinations. These are required reading for all Gentry families.
Note that rabies vaccination is required by law and we comply with that requirement.
Spay, Neuter & Your Health Warranty
Does spaying or neutering affect my health warranty? Yes. Conventional spay and neuter procedures damage the endocrine system and can trigger a wide range of chronic health issues. As such, conventional spay and neuter void your Gentry health warranty.
However, we fully support and encourage hormone-sparing alternatives that protect your dog's long-term health while preventing unwanted reproduction. The following procedures do not void your warranty:
- Ovary-Sparing Spay (OSS)
- Tubal Ligation
- Vasectomy
Does my puppy come with health insurance?
Yes — puppies come with one month of free health insurance through AKC's Breeder of Merit program. Note that as of this writing, California, Washington, and New York do not allow activation of this free insurance. Contact AKC Pet Insurance at 866-725-2747 to verify your state's eligibility.
Registration & Breeding Rights
Does my puppy come with breeding rights? In general, no. Gentry puppies are sold on AKC Limited Registration, meaning offspring are not registerable with AKC. This is our standard for all pet and performance placements.
Can I show my Gentry puppy in conformation? AKC conformation showing requires Full Registration. In this case, I will be listed as first co-owner on your puppy. This co-ownership allows me to mentor you through health screening and evaluation of your puppy as a show and breeding candidate. There is no additional cost for this arrangement. Full Registration and release from co-ownership are granted only after your dog is AKC titled and fully health screened with acceptable results. I take this responsibility seriously and expect the same of you.
Am I required to breed my Gentry dog? Never. Breeding is always optional. However, we want you to understand that Gentry Boxers is one of very few — possibly the only — program in the world fully committed to 100% natural rearing preservation breeding at this level. Every unaltered Gentry dog represents an opportunity to improve epigenetic health across generations. We will never pressure you, but we will always encourage you to consider the conversation.
What if I have a Gentry male and want to discuss stud service? All Gentry males considered for breeding must be fully health screened, AKC titled in performance or conformation, and evaluated prior to being offered at stud. If you have a Gentry boy, we do not take stud fees unless otherwise arranged. In most cases I will be listed as co-owner with a split of marketing expenses and fees collected.
Sports & Showing
Am I required to show my Gentry puppy? No. Showing is never required. That said, Boxers are working dogs who thrive with purpose — and dog sports are one of the best ways to give them that. Boxers excel in conformation, agility, obedience, dock diving, lure coursing, Fast CAT, barn hunt, trick dog, frisbee, and even canine freestyle. Many Gentry puppies have earned conformation championships and advanced performance titles. Some are therapy dogs. We encourage you to explore what you and your dog love to do together.
What is the AKC Futurity? Most Gentry litters are nominated for the American Boxer Club Futurity and Maturity shows. If you wish to participate, individual puppies must be confirmed for nomination before their four-month birthday. This is the buyer's responsibility, but we will do our best to remind you before the deadline.
Our Philosophy on Breeding
Do you breed to make money? No. There is an important distinction between breeding for profit and breeding to profit the breed — and we are firmly in the second camp.
Breeding to profit the breed means we can reinvest in better practices, better pairings, and better dogs. It means we can feed the highest quality human-grade raw meat diet including whole prey. It means we can hire qualified help for Puppy Culture, animal husbandry, and training. It means we can go beyond minimum health screening requirements — running some tests annually rather than once in a lifetime, generating better data for future breeding decisions. It means we can cover emergencies without panic and support our families long after their puppies go home.
Breeding for profit — cutting costs, churning litters, pocketing the margin — isn't just unethical. It produces sicker dogs, traumatized puppies, and heartbroken families. It is not what we do and never has been.
Will you take a dog back? Yes. We will take any Gentry dog back at any point during its lifetime if we have space and the ability to do so. No payments are refunded in this situation. When you make the decision to bring a Gentry puppy into your family, you are making a commitment — to do the research, prepare your home, escape-proof your yard, and do the work of raising a well-adjusted dog. We do everything in our power to set you up for success. If circumstances change and you truly cannot keep your dog, contact us. We will work with you on arrangements. Getting the dog back to us is your responsibility, but we will not leave a Gentry dog without a safe home.
